Monthly puppy naming time!!! Congratulations! You have a beautiful litter of German Shepherds bouncing around your home.
These are extremely intelligent dogs. Though originally bred to herd sheep, shepherds are now used frequently in police work and as service dogs.
Your job is to come up with names for the 4 puppies- 1 girl and 3 boys. But not just any names will do. The names need to be shared with someone who has made a great positive impact- think scientists, inventors, people who fought for great causes, etc.
How about Gutenberg or Moses? Your turn! What was your favorite name?

Create a character time! Today you need to think up someone who makes umbrellas for a living. Why did they choose this profession? What do they love about making umbrellas?
Write a few sentences about this interesting individual.
Do you use umbrellas? I don’t even own one… sorry umbrella making person. Maybe I need to get some from your character…

Remember the character you created yesterday? Well they have a problem. It has been a very dry year. That means their umbrella sales are way down. They need to find a way to sell their umbrellas even in the dry weather or they are going to have to shut their business down!
But wait! Your brilliant character has come up with three clever ways to sell umbrellas in this dry spell! What did they come up with?
Perhaps they can market to odd nanny’s who sing and have chimney-sweep friends.

Yep! You get to design your bedroom however you like. Money isn’t an object, but space is. You cannot make your bedroom bigger.
Things to consider: your favorite color
your favorite place
your favorite book or movie characters
your favorite hobby
Is there something super unique you would love- like an aquarium along one wall if your room is big?
Grab a pencil and paper and sketch it out! What theme did you pick?
Note: Sometimes having a very limited budget can lead to super interesting solutions! I have a shelf rising up from a built-in planter. It is supported by a couple pieces of tree trunk- the piece next to the wall rises to the ceiling. Trees are free for many of us northern Wisconsin folk.

If you are new to this creative writing series, welcome! I will explain what the whole journal entry thing is all about The last weekday of each month, is a time to look back over the month, but not from your point of view! You first need to choose something that will write this and all the remaining journal entries for the year. It may be your cat. It may be a tree. It may even be a rock. Simply choose a character to follow along the year’s journey.
Now, look back over April and think about some unique things this particular month held. Easter- April Fool’s Day- Spring activities you couldn’t do in the winter- The things you choose to focus on will depend on your character. Next, sum up your character’s April activities or outlooks in 3-10 sentences.
April is the start of tick season here… So Benzi (My basset mix and journaler) spent her journal thinking up ways to de-tick the yard- oh wait… that was me…
