A Year of  Creative Sparks for Free!

SIX STEPS TO JOINING THE FUN

1. Know what these Creative Sparks are.  They are short, relatively quick exercises that are meant to be FUN and instill a love of creative writing.

2. Not every person is inspired by the same thing. I know! Ask me to write an historical fiction story or a heavy soul- wrenching gut puncher, and I will cringe . . . with tears streaming down my face . . . into little plopping puddles. That may be a bit of an exaggeration, but I would truly dislike it. If a Spark comes along and you wrinkle your nose at it–skip it. Do you want to delve further into a particular Spark? Do it.

3. Because these sparks are meant to impart joy, there are some pivotal basic guidelines. Ready?
* Write for yourself. Or if you don’t share my infatuation with pencil and paper, type.
* NO grammar checks!
* NO spelling checks!
* NO punctuation checks!
Please note the capital letters and exclamation points. There is a time and place for those things. Not here. This is a fun safe zone to let your imagination fill in the blanks.

4. Challenge can be an inspiring or daunting word.
If it is inspiring – Yay! Let’s go and make this year full of creative whirlwinds of enthusiastic explorations.
If it is daunting- Erase the word- Do what feels fun and inspiring for you. How about a month challenge? Too much? How about a week challenge? Still to much? Just pick and choose what motivates you and/or your children.

Happy Creative Writing!!!
